教会简史

​

本教会始于七十七年前 (1947 年)的一个家庭查经班。此查经班是为当时居住在芝加哥南部芝加哥大学校园内或附近的华人基督徒、学生和学者举办的。该查经班后来发展为一间名为“中华福音堂”（China Gospel Church）的教会，由首任牧师傅彼得牧师和后来的牛宏恩牧师（Rev. Abraham New）帶領。

 

自 1955 年起，在基督教改革宗教会的国内宣教机构 (Home Missions of Christian Reformed Church)的支持下，任以撒牧师（Rev. Isaac C. Jen）担任此教会的第一任全职牧师，並将教会改名为“海德园基督教改革宗长老会”（Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church） (现在的名稱)。任以撒牧师任职三年后，于 1958 年由韩荫璋牧師（Rev. Paul Han）接任，并在 5144 S Cornel Ave (现在的地址) 购置了一栋建筑作为教会总部。在韩牧师辛勤的牧养下，教会成员不断增加，并开展了许多活动。除了主日上午和下午的常规崇拜外，教会还定期举办主日学、查经班、每月团契、暑假的中文及文化班。教会还特别为华裔学生学者的身份办理、婚姻辅导、升学及就业等事項提供服务，使他们能更有效地融入社区生活。由于信徒人数增加及活动范围扩大，教会于 1973 年春拆除旧堂，兴建新堂（由基督教改革宗教会的国内宣教机构以低利息贷款资助，贷款于 2003 年左右还清）。韩牧师于 1983 年退休，黄健汾牧师（Rev. Kinfun Wong）于 1988 年接任。自 1955 年以来，教会的牧师及其任期如下：

Church History

​

This Church started seventy-seven years ago (1947) as a Bible study fellowship group for the meetings of Chinese Christians, students and professionals, who resided on or near the University of Chicago campus on the south side of Chicago. This Bible study fellowship group later became a church named China Gospel Church, served by the first pastor Rev. Peter Fu, and later by Rev. Abraham New.

With the support of the Board of Home Missions of the Christian Reformed Church (CRC), a full-time pastor, Rev. Isaac Jen, has been installed since 1955 and the Church was renamed Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church (current name). After the three-year tenure, Rev. Isaac Jen was succeeded by Rev. Paul Han in 1958 and a building at 5144 South Cornel Avenue (the current address) was acquired as the headquarters of the Church. Through the laborious pastorship of Rev. Han, the church membership has been increased and many activities have been introduced.  Besides the regular Sunday services in the morning and afternoon, there are regular meetings of the Sunday School, the Bible study group, the monthly fellowship, and the Chinese language and culture classes in the summer. Special services are also provided for Chinese students and professionals in immigration, marriage counseling, study and jobs to adjust their lives more profitably in the community. Because of the increasing congregation and expanding activities, the old building was demolished and a new building was constructed in the spring of 1973 (with support from the Home Missions of CRC through a low-interest loan which was paid off around the year 2003). Rev. Paul Han retired in 1983 and he was succeeded by Rev. Kinfun Wong in 1988. The tenure of the pastors who have served the church since 1955 is listed below:
